A farmer first
Robbie became the main earner for his family at the age of eight, after his father died, helping to support his mother and three sisters. By 20 he had bought his first dairy farm with a $1,000 deposit.
He built the farm and an engineering business, Australian Stainless Steel, while driving milk tankers at night, hay contracting in summer and working security in winter, and paid off his farm and house in New South Wales within 13 years.
Taking farm trade online
Online livestock sales
In the late 1980s Robbie was among the first in Australia to sell livestock online, travelling 109,000 km in nine months to show farmers how it worked.
CALM, later AuctionsPlus
He developed Computer-Aided Livestock Marketing (CALM), which later became known as AuctionsPlus, and multi-vendor online machinery auctions.
REALM Group
Today he leads REALM Group, a marketplace and network "built by farmers for farmers" across Australia, the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Fiji, with Pay In Time - Finance as its finance brand.
Fluxx Awards
In June 2025 Robbie attended the 2025 FLUXX Awards in Hong Kong, a global event that brings together leaders and innovators in business, healthcare, technology, sustainability and social impact.
