Cookies and browser storage

In short

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We set cookies only when you log in. Other small settings stay in your own browser and are not sent to us.

Cookies (only when you log in)

• __Host-pit_session: Keeps you logged in to My account. Only our server can read it, and it is only sent to this website. How long: Up to 30 days. You are logged out sooner if you do not use the site for 7 days, or when you log out.
• pit_in: Tells our pages to show "My account" instead of "Log in". It holds only a 1 or a 0, nothing about you. How long: The same as the log-in cookie.

Kept in this browser until you change or clear it

This is "local storage". It stays on your device and is not sent to us.

• pit-theme: Your Light or Dark choice from the bottom of the page.
• pit-palette: Your Forest or Bright palette choice.
• pit-motion: Your "Reduce motion" choice.
• pit-install: Remembers that you closed the "Install the Pay In Time app" button, so it is not shown again.
• pit-offline-apply: Only if you lose your connection while sending the loan application: your answers are kept on your device so you can send them later. "Discard kept answers" removes them.

Kept only while this tab is open

This is "session storage". It is deleted when you close the tab.

• pit-recent: The calculators and guides you opened, for "Pick up where you left off".
• pit-cur: The currency you picked, so every calculator starts with it.
• pit-finder: Your Finance Finder result, so the enquiry form can start with it.
• pit-finder-docs: The documents you ticked on the Finance Finder checklist.
• pit-ticker: Whether you paused the moving band of industries on the home page.
• pit-ref: The name in a referral link (?ref=), so the enquiry form can show "Referred by". It is only sent if you send the form.
• pit-by: A partner code from a partner link (/refer/?by=), so an enquiry counts for that partner. It is only sent if you send an enquiry.

Saved pages for offline use

If your browser supports it, our website keeps copies of its own files and of the calculator, guide and glossary pages you open (in caches named pit-assets and pit-pages), so they still open without a connection. Pages from My account, log in, staff and lender areas are never kept. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.

Other services

• Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits. It does not set cookies or use local storage.
• Tool, guide and share counts: when a free tool shows a result, a guide has been open for 20 seconds or a share button is used, your browser sends a short name (such as "tool:car-loan-calculator") to our own website so we can count it. No cookies, no storage and no personal details.
• REALM Front Desk chat (the chat button) is run by REALM Group for all REALM websites. See the privacy policy for how the chat works.
• Cloudflare hosts and protects this website, and may set a security cookie when it needs to check that a visitor is a person.

How to clear them

You can delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser's settings. If you delete the log-in cookies, you will need to log in again.
