Keep or replace a machine
Put the yearly cost of keeping your current machine next to the yearly cost of financing a new one.
What these numbers mean
- The big number is the difference in yearly cost between keeping and replacing, while the loan runs.
- Keeping adds repairs, downtime and running costs for your current machine.
- Replacing adds a year of loan repayments on the price less your trade-in, plus the new machine running and repair costs.
Good to know
- The new machine is financed for the price less the trade-in, with no balloon and no fees. Repayments stop at the end of the term.
- Tax, depreciation, resale value later and the value of newer features are not counted.
- Downtime cost is your own estimate. It can matter as much as the repair bills, so it is worth thinking through.
