Solar payback calculator
See how long a solar or energy upgrade might take to pay for itself, and whether financing it leaves you ahead each year.
What these numbers mean
- The big number is simple payback: the cost after rebates divided by the yearly saving on your bill.
- Simple payback leaves out interest, price changes and upkeep.
- If you use a loan, ahead or behind shows whether the yearly saving covers the yearly repayments while the loan runs.
Good to know
- The saving is your own estimate and stays the same every year here. Energy prices, use and system output change over time.
- Rebates differ by place and change often. Enter only the amount you have confirmed for your own system.
- Maintenance, battery or inverter replacement and any feed-in income are not counted unless you include them in the saving.
- This is a guide only, not a quote, an offer of finance, a borrowing limit or financial, legal or tax advice.
